On Monday 21st September, Public Health England launched Stoptober; the national campaign that encourages the nation’s smokers to make a quit attempt for the month of October and beyond. This is based on the evidence that if a smoker can quit for 28 days, they are five times more likely to quit for good.
About Stoptober
We’re taking a fresh new creative approach for Stoptober this year, positioning it as part of our new ‘Better Health’ brand and focusing on the positive impact that quitting smoking has on lung health. As with previous campaigns, we’ll begin with a ‘rally’ phase which aims to encourage smokers to prepare for quitting on 1 October, followed by a ‘support’ phase which runs throughout October to help them sustain their quit attempt.
Our adverts and resources prompt smokers to search ‘Stoptober’, which takes them to a new landing page on the Better Health website. Here they will find a range of information and support on quitting, including several free tools including the Stoptober App, SMS and email support and the local stop smoking service search facility.
