Urgent appointments

To request an urgent appointment for today:

  • call 01663 745266 If you already know that you will need an urgent appointment then phoning reception first thing in the morning remains the best way to access these appointments as we only have a limited number each day.

When you get in touch, we will ask about your needs and match you with the right healthcare professional.

Routine appointments

To request a future appointment during opening times:

When you get in touch, we will ask what you need help with.

We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.

Get medical advice from a doctor or nurse

To ask a non-urgent medical question:

Online requests submitted before 6:30 PM will be acknowledged on the same day. (within opening hours). opening times.

Enhanced access

Mondays until 8pm, Arden House Medical Practice offers doctors and nurse appointments.

Routine appointments available on Saturdays at the walk in Centre in New Mills and MIU at Buxton. Not available for babies under 12 months. Call reception to book.

Please note we can not book unregistered patients into 6:30pm to 8pm appointments.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • video calls
  • text messages

Cancelling or changing an appointment

Please cancel at least two working hours in advance so that your appointment may be offered to someone else.

To cancel your appointment:

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond.
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text.
  • if you need an interpreter.
  • if you have any other access or communication needs.

Chaperones

We can offer you a chaperone during your appointment.

A chaperone is a trained staff member who stays in the room to help you feel safe, comfortable and respected, especially for intimate or personal examinations.

You can ask for a chaperone:

  • when you book your appointment ,
  • when you arrive at reception , or
  • by asking the doctor or nurse in your appointment.

If a chaperone is not available straight away, we may ask you to wait or rebook your appointment.

Home visits

Patients are requested to telephone the practice on 01663 745266 before 10:30 am if a visit is required that day.

Visit requests received later in the day will be passed to the GP for review , but please note that the GP or home visit team may not be able to see you today if the request is made after 10:30 am.

Someone will call you first, to ask about your needs. The doctor will decide if a home visit is needed.

The Practice has access to the local home visiting service who may carry out the visit. This service is GP led with other healthcare professionals also visiting patients.

Home visits are only for : patients who are frail, housebound or who are genuinely too ill to attend surgery, and live within the area of New Mills and vicinity.

We can see several patients at the surgery in the time it takes to make one home visit.

The surgery has better facilities for examining and treating patients.
